DUKE RIM SIERRA 42 - 32''

Sierra 42 32-inch brings the logic of our Sierra 42 to a larger diameter: an Elite gravel rim designed to ride fast, carry speed and remain precise as tracks become rougher.

The 32-inch format brings a simple mechanical advantage: a lower angle of attack when meeting obstacles. On a rough track, through a rut or over repeated small steps, the wheel rolls over the terrain more easily and sheds less speed. This can improve stability, handling comfort and continuity of effort through long rough sections.

This benefit comes with a trade-off: a larger diameter increases inertia. To remain dynamic, a 32-inch wheel therefore needs to limit peripheral mass and control stiffness. At 390 g, Sierra 42 32-inch keeps weight particularly low for a gravel rim of this diameter and depth.

The structure was not created by simply enlarging the 700C Sierra 42. The carbon architecture was recalibrated for the greater leverage, pressure constraints, spoke geometry and tyre retention requirements specific to the 32-inch format.

The 42 mm depth remains focused on efficiency and speed. It provides more continuity of effort than a shallower profile. The result is a platform designed for fast gravel, long tracks, rolling courses and terrain where the 32-inch format can exploit its rollover capability.

The 28 mm internal width provides excellent support for modern gravel tyres. It preserves a large air volume, enables lower pressures and controls tyre deformation as cornering loads or speed increase.

The Hooked design is deliberate. In gravel, tyre pressures remain higher than in MTB; the hook provides additional mechanical bead retention. On a larger diameter, where control of the tyre-rim interface becomes even more important, this solution provides a level of safety and compatibility consistent with the intended use.

Built using the SLR5 process, Sierra 42 32-inch combines Toray T1100 fibres, aerospace-grade resin and an optimised lay-up. SpokeCore forms the spoke holes during moulding, VFP removes the need for clearcoat, DRC improves vertical filtering and AntiPinch helps reduce the risk of tyre cuts under impact.

The 2 mm Offset geometry helps balance tension between the two spoke sides and preserve lateral stiffness, stability and reliability, a particularly important point as wheel diameter increases.
