The entry point into DUKE’s carbon XC rim range. At 350 g with a 29 mm internal width, Core XR is a modern 29” carbon XC rim with a Hookless construction suited to low MTB pressures.

Core XR is DUKE’s entry point into carbon for cross-country.

Across the brand’s overall architecture, Core represents the third tier of the carbon range, after Elite and Performance.

In XC, Core XR therefore sits below Lucky Jack, our Elite benchmark. The goal is clear: offer a modern, high-quality carbon rim at a more accessible price than our most advanced competition builds.

With a 29-inch diameter, a 350 g rim weight and a 29 mm internal width, Core XR meets current XC standards. It is optimised for 2.2 to 2.4-inch tyres, with compatibility from 2.0 to 2.6 inches.

From 1,365 g per pair, it offers a well-judged balance of weight, ride dynamics, reliability and budget, for training as well as racing.

The 2 mm Offset creates an asymmetric spoke layout designed to balance tension between both sides. This architecture improves lateral stiffness, stability and build reliability without a weight penalty. In XC, better-balanced spoke tension directly contributes to wheel precision and durability.

Unlike Core RR and GR, Core XR uses a Hookless construction. Lighter than an equivalent hooked rim, it also increases the tyre’s internal volume. This solution is particularly suited to low MTB pressures, where the additional volume improves comfort and grip. DUKE has mastered this technology since 2011.

AntiBurp secures the system with internal ridges that lock the tyre beads in place, limit air loss under side loads and reduce the risk of tyre unseating, including in the event of a puncture.

Tubeless Ready compatibility allows full use of low tyre pressures. The rim is compatible with UST / Tubeless Ready standards and supplied with DUKE rim tape and valve.

Core XR therefore makes an excellent first carbon XC wheelset, or a solid training companion.
